“ This spot is fire! And i say this having lived in San Jose! The highlight of my meal was the basil snail--each piece was perfectly juicy with a light butter fill - (I checked them all). Plus, the snails were easy to get out of the shell, making for a smooth, enjoyable experience. The oysters, blood clam, and scallops were all fresh and well-prepared, with a fresh, soft texture to the palate. I was a bit disappointed they were out of periwinkle and razor clams, which I've heard are their specialties, but that just means I'll have to come back! The goi beef salad was another standout; it was flavorful and the ingredients were clearly fresh. They have both big and small tables for all sizes. You'll feel like your in Vietnam coming here so a green check for authenticity. ”
“ I love oc & lau so much, I live in LA but I always bring my friends here to try the food out because it's SO good and they're always blown away because they're only used to pho or bbh for viet food. Both restaurants are good, it just depends on wait time. Be ready to wait over an hour, especially if you have a big group. I think the food is all reasonably priced and the selection is huge. Here are some of my favorite items that I order every single time I come: - Spicy Season Grilled Shrimp (this one is one of my faves, the grilled flavor is wow... delicious. I eat the whole thing with shells, but you can de-shell it too) - Mango Squid Salad (FLAVOR FLAVOR FLAVOR, it's sweet, salty, sour, umami. Love the combination of mango and squid - don't knock it til you try it!!) - Grilled King Scallops w/ Fish Eggs (it's a huge grilled scallop... I don't think you can go wrong with this unless you're allergic) - Spicy Razor Clams (sometimes they run out, but if they don't, you have to try!) - Thai Seafood Hot Pot (don't forget to order Lau at oc & LAU. The broth is so flavorful and it comes with SOOO much seafood that you cook yourself. This is a must) Overall, one of my fave restaurants. The food is sooo good, interior is a little cheugy but I can't hate, and sometimes you need to flag down the server, but it is soooo worth it! Also I don't even like seafood that much, so it's crazy that this is one of my fave restos. ”
“ Great dinner made easier by the waitlist. Actual wait time was minimal and we were able to get a table shortly after arrival. We ordered a selection items. They were out of razor clams by 7:30PM on a Friday night. Our favorites of the night were the garlic/scallion escargot and the clams with basil. Also enjoyed the mango slaw with escargot. The lobster was hammered/overcooked sitting atop the udon. Maybe we should have picked a different carb option. Service is fast and easy. Great casual dinner. ”
“ Huge menu lots of seafood and they have hotpot. Everything was tasty. Favorites were the scallops and S&P squid. Frog legs were cooked just right. Clean restaurant and bathroom. Staff was nice enough and got complimentary dessert. ”
